Land Acknowledgement

Dear Future YEG is based in Edmonton, Alberta on Treaty Land, specifically Treaty 6 Territory in Amiskwaciwaskikan, the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Dene, Nakota Sioux, Métis, and many other peoples. This land has been a gathering place, a meeting ground, and a home for Indigenous peoples since time immemorial.

We recognize that with strength, our Indigenous neighbours continue to enrich Alberta’s culture and community, and take on the responsibility to support these communities. Their histories, stories, and voices are foundational to any conversation about civic life, justice, and community building.

As a youth-led initiative focused on access to resources and civic participation, we are committed to truth, reconciliation, and respect for Indigenous sovereignty. We support the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and continue to learn from Indigenous knowledge and leadership.

Civic engagement must include Indigenous voices: past, present, and future.

We encourage all visitors to learn more about the land you’re on: Whose Land Are You On?
